"Under a summer sun in a lush, verdant setting, a group of elegantly attired men gather to eat, drink and take time to relax." - Alessandro Sartori, Artistic Director of Berluti Paris.
Berluti's Spring & Summer 2014 collection was inspired by 19th century impressionist painting but kept to the traditional "pure" colors and sharp designs that the company is loved for.
Mr. Sartori opened up the 45 look collection with a stunning camel blazer and crisp pale grey trousers. Look 17 (my favorite) consisted of a violate colored trench coat that had a crisp appearance yet managed to maintain plenty of movement. The top of the coat was tailored while the bottom was slightly oversized but both parts were pulled together seamlessly by the high-wasted belt that was masterfully knotted at the perfect angle. Looks 18 and 19 introduced the collections sportswear pieces. The shimmering blue anorak, topping look 19, was absolutely stunning and it has earned second on my favorites list. Moving down the line to look 30, we saw a black and cream pin-striped blazer and gilet that is a MUST in every mans wardrobe. I'll admit that pin-stripes are almost always a turn off, but for some reason these two stood out to me. Maybe it was the beautiful hand stained silk scarf that brought everything together. Whatever it is, I will be making my way to the nearest Berluti boutique to purchase them for myself. Look 45 came walking down the runway and I couldn't lift my jaw from the ground when I saw the impeccably cut gala jacket. The model was moving fast and with every step the light gleamed against the silky navy color. Within a matter of seconds the model had left the runway and I was left in astonishment. Alessandro Sartori peaked out from the stage entrance and gave the audience a wave, bringing the show to an end.
We can expect pieces from the show to be available before the end of March and boy am I excited!
